Watch Tour de France in Melbourne

I know we’re late on the ball but Tour de France is on! Sure, most of you might still be too caught up with the final stages of the soccer World Cup, but you know what? I feel a bit over it. There, I said it. It’s okay, you may shun me now. I’ll live with it. So if watching people drive incredibly fast, in fancy looking tight outfits on crisp bikes is your thing, this could quite be the highlight of your year. But let’s get down to business. Where to see it? Well we’ve got intel of the best spot to follow this race.

For the third year running, The Shadow Electric is arranging what we can only assume is the most kick ass tour viewings in Melbourne. At Domestique Pop Up Bar, a self-named sports bar for those who prefer bars to sports, they invite cycling enthusiasts, wandering night owls and arm-chair commentators to join them for some night-time cycling watching of the key stages of this years tour. The screenings will show all those challenging mountain stages, along with the ever important time trial. Watch on a large indoor screen, HD projections. For comfort there’s gas heating and a late night license.

And oh, there’s food too! Every Saturday and Sunday there’s food from Fancy Hanks BBQ and on all other night you’ll find Polish dumplings from Pierogi Pierogi. Yum, right? And there’s more. Every Friday and Saturday night will be more than just bikes and you can expect DJ’s starting from 7pm.

As they say – winter in Melbourne never felt so much like summer in France!

Am to understand that the Domestique pop-up bar – all things tour de France – is not open for the final two stages? Seems a little strange?

    Any info would be great.
