Top 5 to do in Daylesford

Melbourne may be the crown jewel of Victoria, but there are plenty other places that have a lot to offer. We went to Daylesford to check it out, and today we’re sharing our top five places in the town. And you know what? We’re already planning our next visit!

This is one cute cafe, that’s for certain. Located on the main strip in Daylesford, this place is a little bit like an oasis. With a unique industrial feel, a lot of the interior pieces have a history, such as the communal table which was made by an old basketball court or the benches created by 100-year-old floor boards, all made by designer and sculptor Jason Waterhouse.

Head on in for a delicious breakfast or a savoury late breakfast. Oh, and of course some great tasting coffee (or chai lattes, if that’s your thing). You’ll need your energy, so make sure you get yourself a treat.

Harry and me

Walking into this shop felt a little bit like walking into my dream home. Crammed with gorgeous pieces, it’s impossible to leave without buying something. They offer interior details, including some incredible ceramics, clothing and accessories and an incredibly cute kiddy section.

Upstairs at Alpha

For all you vintage lovers out there, Daylesford is a gold mine. The town is littered with vintage and antique shops, and this is one of our favourites. Located upstairs in the beautiful old Alpha Hall, you’ll find a treasure trove of dresses and vintage finds, along with some really stylish new products as well. There are actually three separate businesses sharing the space, all with distinct characteristics. It’s not a huge space, but be prepared to spend quite some time in here – there’s simply too many things to go through.

The Amazing Mill Markets

You remember all that energy we said you needed to stock up at Larder? This is what it’s for. This is the ultimate antiquing challenge. Make sure you have at least a couple of hours to go through this warehouse of antique stalls. You can find anything, yes, literally anything, you’ll need. We especially loved the old furniture and the abundance of glassware available. If you’re into antiquing, this is like finding the holy grail.

Daylesford Hepburn Springs Spa

Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa

End a day filled with antiquing and shopping with some relaxation, you have earned it. Head a few kilometres north to the next township, Hepburn Springs, and the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. Our favourite time to visit is between 6pm – 8pm, when the bathhouse quiets down (even more than usual) and you can spend a couple of hours contemplating. If you really want to give yourself some soothing experiences, book yourself a treatment as well.
