As a freelancer I work from home, from cafes and libraries. I do miss having an office though sometimes where I can go to everyday and can exchange ideas with like-minded people.
Living in Germany for the last couple of years I used to work from co-working spaces in Hamburg and Berlin all the time. These places had fast internet connection, meeting rooms, good coffee and I made great contacts there. No wonder I got excited when I moved back to Melbourne to see that there are already a couple of established co-working spaces available.
But I got even more excited when I read that a new one, called St Kilda Hub, is about to open its doors in St Kilda in Acland St. (Yay, I can walk there!)
WHAT IF there was a shared workspace in a great St Kilda location, with really fast internet and excellent printing services, where you could network with other people also starting and growing businesses to get more work and referrals. Flexible rent with permanent, part-time and casual options.
St Kilda HUB is coming soon.
The website doesn’t have much information yet (and I do think they need to work on the design and content *wink, wink*). But from what I can see, St Kilda Hub will be located at the corner of Acland St and Albert St.
St Kilda Hub will have options ranging from permanent memberships (5 days unlimited use), semi-permanent (2-3 days per week) as well as hot desks (pay per use daily), free internet and coffee, printing, scanning and copying.
