Sometimes you just want to go somewhere that’s inside and look at some amazing creatures. Maybe it’s time to head on over to Melbourne Aquarium, walk the darkened corridors and marvel at the spectacular sea life.
There’s plenty to see – from Finding Nemo coral reef fish, jellyfish, turtles, penguins and a whole lot more. You didn’t expect me to list it all, did you? On September 21st the aquarium is finishing up a five month refurbishment. At the same time they’re adding a croc to their stables. And it’s not any croc. Pinjarra, that’s his name, is a 50-year-old 5 metres long croc that weighs in at 750 kg. I’m not kidding you. It’s one big, scary guy we’re talking about. He’ll have plenty of space and is viewable from a whopping three different platforms.
Make sure you’re at the aquarium early enough to head on over to the main tank at 2pm. At that time a diver heads on down to the main tank to feed the fish and gets completely engulfed by the hungry fish. It’s quite magical watching swarms of fish surround the diver. Well of course they do, the diver’s got all the food. But if you’re anything like me (I tend to get a bit crazy excited about watching animals) you’ll want to see it.
