Monthly Gig Roundup – September

BarefootBiscuit-Scorcher-10

Guess what? It’s Spring! I think Melbourne’s weather is having trouble with coming to terms with it but that doesn’t mean we won’t try to enjoy it. The way we like to enjoy it is by going to gigs. This is our pick of the best gigs this upcoming month

Ainslie Wills
5 September, The Gasometer Hotel
Take 1 part Missy Higgins and 1 part Megan Washington and 2 parts Sarah Blasko, mix ‘em up in a cocktail shaker, add a drop of bitters and serve chilled. I think I took this analogy too far, but you get the idea.

Howling Bells
11 September, Howler
Howling Bells have been quiet for some time now, but they are back with a brand new tour and they’re playing Howler, my current no. 1 venue in Melbourne.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings
19 September, Melbourne Town Hall
Supported by Melbourne’s best Bollywood-surf-funk band, this is sure to be a funktastic festival of fine funky felines (?)

Bombay Bicycle Club
25 September, Forum Theatre
This indie pop quartet has possibly my favourite band name in the business.

Angus & Julia Stone
25 September, Palais Theatre
This duo is back with a new album and a slightly different sound, darker and with more of an Americana influence. I’m into it.
