Fancy some sugar skull face paint, tequila and food trucks? In two weeks it’s time for this year’s celebration of El Día de los Muertos – 1800 Tequila Day of the Dead Festival. On Saturday November 2nd at 3pm the festival will open its gates for a 10 hour full on mexican fiesta. Are you excited yet? If it were up to me you’d be utterly excited.
As usual for events in Melbourne, the festival is sure to be brimming with more than the expected tequila and tacos. I anticipate some fierce art installations, video projections and even pop-up art stores. And, of course, music. In addition to DJ’s there’ll be mariachi bands (yes! that’s a plural y’all!). Haven’t you ever day dreamed about dancing to a mariachi band? No? Well, I have occasional day dreams about it. This is your opportunity to get to know the culture behind the tacos.
You’ll have to get your tickets in advance. If you’re fast – check out the Groupon offer on right now where you can get the tickets for only $20. Or, if you’re not a cheap skate like me, you can buy the full priced tickets on the site. You’re all so fancy, aren’t you?
Now I’m going to raid my wardrobe to see if there’s anything remotely as fabulous as this event. I doubt it. But I’ll see you there, right?
