First time I went here I was just looking for a quick bite for lunch. I didn’t really anticipate finding anything really worth my while, only something to sustain me until the next meal. I walked into the first place I saw (pretty much) and I was thrilled. I had found my new go-to lunch spot.
Le Triskel specialises on making galettes and crêpes. It’s typically french food in an incredibly french setting. Once you get into the tiny, but quaint restaurant, to get in the right mood, listen to the staff chitchatting in french, browse through one of the french books in the window and for the daring – try ordering in french. If you need help there’s a board with instructions on how to in the kitchen area.
I have a soft spot for galettes. For me it’s the ideal lunch. I mean, who doesn’t like pancakes? Fill them with deliciousness, and they’re even more amazing. My favourite so far is the La Biquette [La Beek-ett], which is an tasty blend of fresh and grilled goats cheese, tomato and spinach. It’s scrumptious without feeling over the top unhealthy.
If I were a superhero, I think I might have been ‘Galette Girl’. Not sure what super powers the name would come with, but I’m sure they’d be great. With galettes, there’s really no way to fail.
On hot days, get a table in the outside seating area and enjoy some people watching. This is where you’ll find me most work day lunches for the rest of summer. If you see someone all in black, wearing crazy nail polish, chumming down on a goats cheese galette, eyeing a book, say hi will you?
Last but not least: This is a cash only place, so come prepared.
