There is finally a reason why you should instagram your food, because Bagelicious is one of the places I accidentally found on Instagram, when one of my friends posted her bagel breakfast. From the first moment I saw the picture I was intrigued about Bagelicious. I’ve checked the place on Foursquare and read what people had to say about it. All over all the reviews were not bad, but one thing really stood out: The Bagelicious Iced Moccha. I had to check it myself.
Bagelicious is located in Glenhuntley Rd, in Elsternwick. The place is very easy to find and has a heated outdoor sitting area.
The interior is more on the functional rather than the design side, so don’t expect to enter one of those hipster cafes.
Starting with selecting your bagel flavour of choice you can choose either a plain traditional bagel or if you be a bit more adventurous you might want to try an onion bagels or even a delicious dark rye bagel who looks and taste amazing despite the dark chocolaty appearance. Gluten free options are also available.
After you’ve selected your bagel, you can either choose your own toppings or select your bagel of choice from their rather big menu. It’s really hard to decided what to have as there are over ten different flavoured bagels to pick from, both sweet and savoury, and so many different topping options. All a bit overwhelming at first and you might want to have a closer look at the menu before you order.Yeah I know, though decisions or as the Germans say: Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual. (google it!)
If you can’t eat in, just grab some yummy bagels to take away, and do your own preferred fillings at home. Ask what has most recently come out of the oven, and score yourself a tasty warm treat.
Compared to the oh-so-tasty bagels the coffee is a bit on the average side. The iced coffee lived up to its recommendations: mind-blowingly tasty! It’s not especially on the cheap side (if I remember it right it was about $7) but it’s not only worth the money, it also comes in a big size so you end up enjoying it for quite a while.
They do have the novelty thing down that’s for sure. And if you plan to pay them a visit on the weekend, I recommend you come in either before 11.30am or after 1pm as the place gets ver busy.
Alright, what bagel place should I try next? Any suggestions?
